Cell Lab
In this study, we looked under microscopes at eight specimen in order to see the similarities and differences between all of them. We messed around with different magnifications and lighting from specimen to specimen. This gave us a feel for the different organization patterns of plant and animal cells. It also let us see actual organelles inside a cell which was really helpful. The significance of this study was to really understand that all calls have different structures and functions, with the ability to see it through the microscope. |

Photomicrography
For this part of the Cell Unit, we brought in items to look at under the microscope and took pictures of our results. I looked at so many different cells, like roses, grass, hibiscus, almonds, elodea, etc. I ended up picking the picture I got of apple skin because you are able to see the cells and organelles at 400x magnification. This part of the unit was really cool because we all got to work independently and even if people looked at the same sample, it isn't the same picture. |
Cell Gallery Article In this assignment, I picked one cell to focus in on and wrote an informational article explaining it. I decided to research the rod cells which are in charge of the ability to see the shapes and shadows, but not color. We had to focus in on the structures and functions of our cell and explain it's importance in the body. The hardest part of this piece was probably the fact that we had to make it informational, but still casual. |
